Dacia Aviles

Where is your hometown? Born and raised on the North Side of Chicago near Wrigley Field. So you know what that means…. Go Cubbies!

What do you do at Regent RCM? I’m a Revenue Cycle Specialist. I’m responsible for billing, payment posting and account receivables for a surgery center.

How long have you been working at Regent RCM? I started January 2018, so I’m still new to Regent, but I carry 18 years of revenue cycle experience as well.

Where did you work before joining Regent RCM? Prior to joining the team, I worked for Anne & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital.

What is your favorite part about working at Regent RCM? I love Regent RCM’s friendly and respectful ambience, everyone is willing to help with any question I have. I also like the concept of working for one client because I’m able to see that difficult accounts are resolved almost instantaneously. When several individuals are working the same client account it can get messy. RegentRCM’s method and approach is much more effective!

What has been your greatest professional achievement? When I worked at Loyola I was doing Physician reimbursement for out of state Medicaid. At that time there wasn’t much experience with out of State. so I had to take the initiative to learn the rules of each state and figure out how to generate reimbursement.  It turned out that Indiana was the largest population coming to Loyola’s ER. I was able to create a guide from beginning to end with instructions on how to enroll providers, bill correctly and learn to reach EOB’s. Once I finalized the guide, I was seeing payments come in so that Loyola can continue to succeed. When it was time for me to leave Loyola I felt the guide I created was greatly appreciated by the next person. I know what it feels like to not know and needing to learn a whole new ball game.

What is one fun fact about yourself your co-workers don’t know? I love crafting and the kid in me loves Roller-Skating…two of my happy places.

Meet the Team: Ariana Cisneros

Ariana Cisneros

Where is your hometown? Born and raised in Chicago

What do you do at Regent RCM? As a revenue cycle specialist, I help with self-pay for a couple of centers, calling patients to resolve their balances, and help with any billing questions they might have. I’m also training for insurance verification. After that I will hopefully take over responsibility to do billing, posting, and a little bit of everything for a center. I’m looking forward to learning lots of new things!

How long have you been working at Regent RCM? I’ve been with Regent RCM for about a month and a half now.

Where did you work before joining Regent RCM? Before making my way to Regent, I was working at Loyola University Medical Center in the billing customer service area.

What is your favorite part about working at Regent RCM? So far, my favorite part is having great coworkers that who’ve welcomed me onto their team. They’ve been very accommodating and have offered their help more times than I can count. It is always great to feel welcomed and see that at the end everyone works as a big team.

What has been your greatest professional achievement? I’m not sure what has been my greatest professional achievement as of yet, my mindset is to work hard every day and continue to out do my greatest achievement on a consistent basis. My goals are to be a great employee, work hard and be a good team member in order to help Regent RCM achieve its goals.

What is one fun fact about yourself your co-workers don’t know? A fun fact about myself is I love doing crafts, I like baking and I also enjoy decorating around my house or even helping decorate special events. I like being creative!

Gina Rice-Hill

Where is your hometown?

Born and raised in Downers Grove, IL, just outside Chicago.

What do you do at Regent RCM?

As a revenue cycle specialist, I work with a surgery center to handle their billing, payment posting, and accounts receivable. This allows me to focus my efforts to a single client, giving them 100% of my expertise and attention.

How long have you been working at Regent RCM?

I’ve been with Regent RCM for about a year now.  Preceding my work here at Regent RCM I worked with ATI physical therapy as an accounts receivable specialist.  Before that I worked as a patient account representative and financial analyst for a national operator of surgical facilities.

What is your favorite part about working at Regent RCM?

We’re a team here a Regent RCM and our team has a willingness to help each other; that’s hard to find in most workplaces, not here. It’s part of our culture, defined by our R.I.S.E. program. This has helped me to grow as a professional and as a person.

What has been your greatest professional achievement?

I don’t know if I can point to a single event that has been my greatest professional achievement, but I can point to my main motivator as an accounts receivable specialist – my drive to exceed clients’ expectations. I like knowing that I am preforming my job at the highest level possible and I am always trying to grow and improve, I take great pride in this.

What is one fun fact about yourself your co-workers don’t know?

Like a lot of people in Chicago, I’m a huge sports fan!

Meet the Team: Alejandra Perez

Alejandra Perez

Where is your hometown?  I hail from Cicero, Illinois.

What do you do at Regent RCM? I work as a Revenue Cycle Specialist for one of clients in the Midwest, giving them my focused attention to help enhance their cash-flow process while continuously measuring performance metrics and improving collections.

How long have you been working at Regent RCM? I joined Regent RCM in Spring 2017 after working for Allstate Insurance for six years.

What is your favorite part about working at Regent RCM? When I interviewed for the Revenue Cycle Specialist position there was a lot of talk about how important a positive work environment is to Regent RCM – and it really is true. At Regent RCM, are guided by a values-driven culture that aligns our team in a positive way and helps us stay focused on our goal of leveraging our ASC expertise while providing consistent service and expertise to our clients.

What has been your greatest professional achievement? In our business there will always be hurdles and challenges. I enjoy not only coming up with solutions, but making sure that I stay positive, and I take pride in my approach.  I have always been passionate about dealing with customers and patients and I’ve found that a positive approach allows for an overall pleasant experience, regardless of the situation.  

What is one fun fact about yourself your co-workers don’t know? I love to interact with others on a personal level. I see myself as someone who can help people turn a negative into a positive.  Another passion is cooking; I may not be the world’s greatest chef but my kitchen is certainly the place to be at dinnertime.

Kristina Bahula

Hometown: I grew up in Downers Grove, a western suburb of Chicago.

What do you do at Regent RCM?

As a Revenue Cycle Specialist, I leverage my industry knowledge and ASC-specific training to lead all aspects of billing, payment posting and accounts receivable for a surgery center located in the Midwest. I diligently monitor ASC-specific benchmarks to ensure revenue cycle efficiency.

How long have you been working at Regent RCM?

Prior to joining Regent RCM in May 2016, I worked in the business office at North Central College in Naperville, Ill. for 10 years. I enjoyed working with students and helping them navigate complicated tuition payments, tax forms and reporting. In that role, I was able to hone my financial counseling and customer service skills which I use every day at Regent RCM.

What is your favorite part about working at Regent RCM?

Regent RCM encourages continuous learning for all employees, and challenges us to delve into all aspects of the healthcare industry in order to understand its intricacies. In particular, I’ve learned so much about the ever-changing field of health insurance, and I am grateful for that opportunity. Additionally, our corporate values RISE program teaches our team respectful caring, integrity, stewardship, and efficiency; these values benefit not only our team, but our partner centers and their patients.

What has been your greatest professional achievement?

In my career, I have always strived to be a committed, reliable and positive employee who goes above and beyond what is expected. My financial expertise has garnered many successful outcomes for clients and I look forward to learning and achieving even more as I continue to grow here at Regent RCM.

What is one fun fact about yourself your co-workers don’t know?

I have a slight obsession with sea otters! Not only are they adorable, but they are able to live in the ocean and walk on land. The life lesson that I’ve learned from the otters: It is important to be versatile!

Meet the Team | Ana Hernandez

In our ongoing Meet the Team feature, we introduce the many members of our team who make Regent RCM so successful. In our last post, we learned more about New Market Specialist Vernon Gill. Today we’ll shine the spotlight on:

Ana Hernandez

Hometown:

I was born in Central Mexico, in a little town called Jerez, Zacatecas. It is very rustic and beautiful, and the food is amazing! I came to the United States when I was 3-years-old, and was raised right here in Chicago.  I am proud to say that I became a U.S. citizen last year!

What do you do at Regent RCM?

I am a Revenue Cycle Specialist for a center in the Pacific Northwest. I leverage my industry expertise and ASC-specific training as I manage all aspects of billing, payment posting and accounts receivable. Like all of my team members, I keep a watchful eye on RCM benchmarks, carefully measuring the health of my center’s revenue cycle.

Where did you work before joining Regent RCM?

I am passionate about healthcare, and have been fortunate enough to have worked in that sector for over 20 years, gaining expertise on payer regulations on the provider side. Prior to joining Regent RCM, I worked as a Reimbursement Specialist for Midwest Orthopedics at Rush University Medical Center for six years. My duties consisted of working on accounts receivable for any state-funded or commercial insurance, and I negotiated with non-contracted insurance companies. Additionally, I would appeal claims that were denied. Before that, I spent 15 years at Neurologic and Orthopedic Institute of Chicago, also working in accounts receivable.  I was also a benefits coordinator, working closely with patients prior to their surgeries/services in case the services were not covered or there was a high patient responsibility. I am so grateful for these previous experiences, as they have given me the extensive knowledge that I have today.

What’s the best part about working at Regent RCM?

I have several favorite things about Regent RCM! Regent RCM treats employees very well and as a result, we arrive at work with a positive attitude, ready to help each other reach our goals. I have received extensive training and after I was assigned to the ASC I’m responsible for, I traveled with Leslie Favela and Michael Orseno to the center to meet the facility team, learn their policies and procedures, and determine how we could best serve them and help them be successful. I grateful for the opportunity to meet and observe the business office staff at the center, which ultimately helped ensure that all of our processes were efficient and in place.

What is one fun fact about yourself your co-workers don’t know?

I love to smile! I truly believe life is too short to be angry or upset, and it’s important to stay positive and make every day count. I think our partner centers appreciate my attitude, and it helps us work together to achieve the ultimate in patient satisfaction.

Vernon Gill

Hometown:  I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Chicago.

What do you do at Regent RCM?  As a New Market Specialist, I promote our revenue cycle services to surgery centers across the country. I am passionate about healthcare, and in a landscape where reimbursements are shrinking, surgery centers need to be in a position of financial strength. By outsourcing RCM, we help centers focus on what they do best – caring for patients.

What is your favorite part about working at Regent RCM? I work with great people who are willing to help not only our clients but also fellow team members any way they can. It really is a collaborative atmosphere; the more experienced team members are always willing to provide guidance for newer employees and everyone is committed to serving our clients with excellence.

What has been your greatest professional achievement? Over the course of my career, I’ve been fortunate to work with strong leaders and veteran salespeople. They’ve taught me that there’s no substitute to rolling up your sleeves and going to work. That can-do attitude impacts everything I do and underscores my dedication to helping partner centers succeed.

What is one fun fact about yourself your co-workers don’t know?  I love the art of photography. It’s relaxing, but more than that, it also teaches you to appreciate great moments in time.

In our ongoing Meet the Team feature, we put a name and a face on the amazing members of our team who make Regent RCM clients so successful. In our last post, we learned about revenue cycle specialist David Hickey. Today we introduce Casey Eazell, revenue cycle specialist. 

Where is your hometown and what makes it a great place to grow up?

For the past 18 years I’ve lived in Romeoville, a southwest suburb of Chicago. Having lived in the community for so long, it really feels like home and it is a great place to raise a family. My family and I enjoy the comradery of a smaller community and we also enjoy participating in a variety of fun, local events.

What is your favorite part about working at Regent RCM and how does this influence/affect the service you provide customers?

I am fortunate to work at Regent RCM where our corporate culture impacts every aspect of our company. We talk about our culture and our values during the hiring process and during company meetings. I believe it encourages collaboration and it also positively impacts our interaction with our clients. It’s great to work alongside people who are dedicated to serving our customers and pitching in to help each other when needed.

What has been your greatest professional achievement?

I have been in the medical field for over 20 years. Whether implementing new software, drafting new policies and protocols, or obtaining credentials for facilities, my experience has taught me to always go above and beyond. An organization like Regent RCM mirrors my commitment to doing my best and serving those around me – and I really like that.

What is one fun fact about yourself your co-workers don’t know?

Not only do I sing in the shower…I also dance!

Meet The Team | David Hickey

In our ongoing Meet the Team feature, we put a name and a face on the amazing members of our team who make Regent RCM clients so successful. In our last post, we learned about revenue cycle specialist Luz Renteria. Today we would like to introduce David Hickey, revenue cycle specialist.

Where is your hometown and what makes it a great place to grow up?

I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and loved every minute! I loved being able to explore downtown Chicago any given weekend.

What is your favorite part about working at Regent RCM and how does this influence/affect the service you provide customers?

One of the things I love about working at Regent RCM is the culture. The culture makes me want to be not only a great employee – but also a dedicated partner in our success. I’ve worked for other businesses and I recognize that our culture is unique and a differentiator for Regent RCM. I’m proud to work here and feel motivated to continue to contribute to the success of our customers and our company.

What has been your greatest professional achievement?

In the last three months, I worked with two other team members to drastically increase cash collections for a client. Our team recognized that we could make an impact so we took the steps to ensure that claims were being processed correctly, which had a very positive impact on the center’s revenue cycle as a whole. Our efforts resulted in very satisfied customers – this is the kind of win/win we work toward at Regent RCM.

What is one fun fact about yourself your co-workers don’t know?

My coworkers and customers will be surprised to learn that I have a huge collection of zebras. Not only that, but from furniture to candles – and even my dog’s bed – I have zebra print everything. I guess you could say this makes me easy to shop for!

Meet The Team | Luz Renteria

In our ongoing Meet the Team feature, we put a name and a face on the amazing members of our team who made Regent RCM clients so successful. In our last post, we learned about revenue cycle specialist Windy Cortez. Today we would like to introduce revenue cycle specialist Luz Renteria.

Where is your hometown and what is makes it a great place to grow up?

I grew up on the South Side of Chicago.  I love the city, there is so much life and culture, and we certainly have the best skyline of any city in the U.S. (Sorry NYC!)

How long have you been working at Regent RCM and how does the culture influence your work?

Since starting at Regent RCM, I have loved the culture of the company. It is an inspiring place to work and I feel valued and appreciated. I look forward to coming to work each day and I believe this spills over to our customers. When you feel good it lifts up everyone around you – whether it’s a coworker across the hall or a customer hundreds of miles away.

What is your favorite part about working at Regent RCM and how does this influence/affect the service you provide customers?

Transparency is essential at all levels for better relationships and a healthy work environment and Regent RCM really “walks the walk” by promoting open dialog and communication.  Everyone at Regent RCM is urged to ask questions, speak openly, share new thinking and ideas, and above all, we are encouraged to work collaboratively to solve problems for our customers.

What has been your greatest professional achievement?

Working at a hospital, you have many face-to-face interactions with patients.  I had the pleasure of meeting a single mother who was raising her two special needs children on her own, and quickly learned that she had recently lost her job, and subsequently, her health insurance. While she was trying to make ends meet, she faced a number of roadblocks and her children’s medical costs continued to grow.

I helped her by scheduling a meeting with one of our financial counselors in hopes of finding a solution. At the end of the meeting, the mom had qualified for health coverage at no cost to her, and also had qualified for additional programs for her children.

This situation doesn’t happen every day – or even every year – but being in a position to help this mother find the resources she needed during a very trying time felt great!

What is one fun fact about yourself your co-workers don’t know?

I plan to one day backpack through Peru and South America.  I am not sure when that day will be, but I know it will happen and look forward to the adventure!
